COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Rahneeka Saunders and Kyana Jacobs each posted double figures Saturday night as the George Mason women's basketball team dropped a 90-40 decision at No. 9 Maryland in the Comcast Center. Saunders and Jacobs combined for 23 points as Mason dipped to 4-4 on the season, while Maryland improved to 6-2.

Maryland held Mason scoreless for nearly eight minutes of play as the Patriots went 0-for-8 from the field before Janaa Pickard and Saunders hit a pair of treys within a minute of each other for a 20-6 score with 11:15 left in the first.

Trailing 31-9, Jacobs sparked a 9-2 Mason run, fueling the spurt with seven points, cutting the score to 33-16 with 4:07 remaining in the first half. The Terps answered with a 10-2 run to end the half for a 43-20 advantage.

Maryland maintained its comfortable advantage in the second half, leading by as many as 54 with just over two minutes to play. The Terps shot 67.9 percent from the floor in the second half and 57 percent from beyond the arc, compared to Mason's 24.1 percent shooting efficiency from the field.

For the contest, Saunders led Mason offensively with 13 points as Jacobs added 10, just one shy of matching her career-high. Five different Terps reached double-figures for the home squad led by Tianna Hawkin's game-high 27 points. Alyssa Thomas recorded the second triple-double in Maryland program history with 12 rebounds, 11 points and 11 assists.
