The George Mason men's basketball team returns to action after a two-week layoff for exams, taking part in the inaugural Governor's Holiday Hoops Classic against the University of Richmond. This is the first meeting between the two schools since 2001, when the Spiders were members of the Colonial Athletic Association.
Richmond makes the short trip to the Coliseum with a 9-3 record on the season, including an 87-59 road loss at Kansas on Tuesday night. That loss snapped a five-game win streak, including victories over CAA schools William & Mary, Old Dominion and James Madison. U of R also defeated UNCW on November 13. Four Spiders average double-digit scoring, led by Derrick Williams who scores 14.8 points along with a team-high seven rebounds per game on average.
