RICHMOND, Va. - George Mason junior guard Bryon Allen has been recognized by
the Colonial Athletic Association as its first Men's Basketball Player of Week
of the 2012-13 season. Allen, who shares the honor with William & Mary's
Marcus Thornton, earned the award for the first time in his career.
Allen contributed 13 points, a team-high five assists and
four rebounds in Mason's 63-59 victory over ACC foe Virginia last Friday. The
junior guard drained a 3-pointer with just under a minute to go that snapped a
57-57 tie and then sank two free throws with two seconds left that sealed the
win. His two 3-pointers tied a career high.
The Patriots return to action Tuesday night, opening a
four-game road trip with Bucknell. Tip time from Sojka Pavilion is set for 7
p.m.
