Mason returns to conference play on Wednesday, hosting
Drexel at 7:00 p.m. It is the 13th all-time meeting between the two
squads, with the Patriots owning a 6-4-2 advantage in the all-time series. The Dragons currently stand atop the CAA standings with a 3-1 record, while Mason is 1-2 in the conference.
The Patriots will look to get back on the winning track in
CAA action after dropping its last two conference matches. Sophomore Timi Mulgrew
continues to lead the Mason offense with 18 points (7g, 4a), while senior
Taylor Morgan has a team-high eight goals. Senior Dustin Butcher has been the
mainstay in net, starting all 11 matches and posting a 1.11 goals-against
average and a .636 save percentage.
The Dragons are 7-3-1 overall and 3-1 in the CAA, defeating
then-No. 11 ODU (4-1), William & Mary (3-0) and UNCW (2-0) while falling to
Northeastern (1-2) this season. Sophomore forward Fabio Machado has a team-high
10 points on three goals and a team-best four assists, while junior midfielder
Nathan Page leads the team with four goals and stands second with nine points
(4g, 1a). Senior keeper Tim Washam has started 10 of 11 matches for Drexel,
posting a 0.96 goals-against average and a .808 save percentage.
