Junior outside hitter Lana Zonjic put forth two strong
performances this past weekend on the road, and for her efforts the Colonial
Athletic Association recognized her Monday as the volleyball Offensive Player
of the Week. It is the fourth weekly honor in Zonjic's career and the second
for the Patriots this season.
Zonjic had an outstanding weekend for the Patriots leading
them to a 1-1 record and their first road win of the season Sunday afternoon at
Hofstra. Zonjic led Mason with 41 kills for the weekend with 5.83 kills per
game and a .356 hitting percentage. She tallied a match-high 18 kills Friday
night against Northeastern to go with three aces and two blocks.
On Sunday, she tied her career high with 23 kills in the 3-1
win over the Pride. Zonjic leads the Patriots this season in kills (213),
points (244), and aces (22). Zonjic was recognized three times in 2010 as the
conference's Rookie of the Week.
The Patriots return home this upcoming weekend, hosting
Towson and Delaware on Friday and Saturday night, respectively, at the RAC.
