The Patriots return to the pitch on Wednesday, hosting
Hofstra in a conference matchup. It also kicks off a four-game homestand for
Mason, where the squad is 5-1 this season. Mason leads the all-time series vs. Hofstra, 9-5-2.
Mason is coming off of a 3-2 loss to No. 14 Old Dominion
University last Friday. ODU took a 2-0 lead before Mason leading scorer
sophomore Timi Mulgrew put the Patriots on the board in the 61st
minute with a goal off of a helper by junior Julio Arjona. The Monarchs responded
with a goal five minutes later to go up, 3-1, and Mulgrew scored with just two
seconds remaining for the final 3-2 margin.
Mulgrew leads the Mason offense in goals (7), assists (4)
and points (18), registering two or more points in seven of Mason's nine matches this season.
Senior keeper Dustin Butcher has started all nine matches, posting a 1.07
goals-against average and a .655 save percentage.

while going 0-2 in conference play. Both of its conference matches have been on
the road, most recently dropping a 3-2 decision to UNCW on Saturday. The score
was knotted at 1-1 before both teams combined to score three goals in the final
eight minutes. UNCW struck first in the 83rd minute, followed by a
Hofstra goal from Shaun Foster in the 87th minute to tie the match,
2-2. However, the Seahawks clinched the win with three seconds remaining to
hold Hofstra winless in the CAA.
Pacing the Hofstra offense is Maid Memic, who has four goals
and four assists (12 pts.) on the season. Chris Griebsch and Joseph Holland
have four goals apiece and rank second and third on the team with 11 points and
10 points, respectively. Adam Janowski has made the last four starts in net for
the Pride and in 450:00 this season has a 2.00 goals-against average and a .643
save percentage.
