RICHMOND, Va. - Senior Ryan Pearson played an instrumental role in leading
the George Mason men's basketball team to three victories last week, and for
his efforts the Colonial Athletic Association has named Pearson its Co-Player
of the Week. It is Pearson's second such award of the year and fifth of his
career.
Pearson, a native of Far Rockaway, N.Y., averaged 18.7
points and 12.3 rebounds in the Patriots' wins over UNC Wilmington, Hofstra and
James Madison. He posted his eighth and ninth double-doubles of the season
against the Seahawks and Dukes, respectively, including 29 points and a
career-high tying 15 rebounds on Saturday against JMU. The 29-point effort was
the highest total for Pearson in his career against CAA opponents.
On Wednesday night against the Pride, despite an injury to
his lip which forced him out of the game temporarily, Pearson pulled down a
game high 10 rebounds and added seven points.
He also contributed five assists, four blocks and three steals while
averaging 32.7 minutes per game during the week.
Pearson was also recognized with the award on January 2 and
three times during his junior campaign. He shares the award this week with
Drexel's Frantz Massenat.
The Patriots are back in action on Wednesday, traveling to
Delaware for a 7 p.m. tilt against the Fightin' Blue Hens.
