RICHMOND, Va. - For the third time this season,
redshirt senior Taleia Moton has been tabbed the Colonial Athletic Association
Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Moton averaged 28.5 points per game in
Mason's two games this past week, helping lead the Patriots to an undefeated
week of action.
Moton averaged 28.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and
1.5 steals per game last week. The Fort Washington, Md., native scored a
game-high 28 points in Mason's 82-70 victory over conference rival William and
Mary behind 23 second-half points. Moton went 10-for-12 at the charity stripe
and 2-for-3 from three-point range.
On Sunday, Moton helped lead Mason to its first victory over
in-state foe VCU since 2006, pouring in a game-high 29 points. Hitting 12-of-14
attempts from the field, Moton set the school record and Patriot Center record
for field goal percentage in a game at .857.
Earlier this season, Moton was tabbed co-player of the week
for the weeks of December 1 and 5. Moton leads the team in scoring this season
with a 21.4 points per game average, ranking third in the league and 11th
in the nation.
Mason returns to action and closes out this
three-game homestand welcoming Towson on Thursday, January 26 for a 7 p.m.
matchup.
