RICHMOND, Va. - Fresh off one of the finest performances in his four-year
career, George Mason senior Ryan Pearson was recognized early Monday as the
Colonial Athletic Association's Men's Basketball Player of the Week. It is the
fourth such honor for Pearson and the first for the Patriots this season.
The Far Rockaway, N.Y., native poured in a career-high 35
points in leading the Patriots to an 84-76 win at College of Charleston on
Friday night. Pearson completed his fifth double-double of the season as well, grabbing
14 rebounds which was one off his career best. He also contributed four
assists, tying a career high, two steals and a block.
His 35-point performance was among the top-20 individual
games by a Patriot in program history, and the highest scoring total since Lamar
Butler had 36 points seven years ago to the day in a 76-65 win at Morehead
State. It was also the third-highest scoring total by a player at the four-year
old TD Arena.
For the season, Pearson leads the team in scoring and
rebounding, averaging 19.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, and ranks third
and fifth in those categories among conference players, respectively. The
forward also ranks fifth in field goal percentage in the CAA, connecting on
55.7 percent of his attempts.
Pearson and the Patriots return to CAA play on Monday
afternoon, hosting William & Mary at noon.
