NEWS & NOTES
The George Mason men's soccer team opens Colonial Athletic
Association play on Saturday welcoming Old Dominion to Fairfax. The Monarchs
are ranked 11th in the latest Soccer America Top 25 poll and College Soccer News poll and 15th
in the NSCAA poll and Top Drawer Soccer.
Mason enters conference play coming off a 2-1 victory over
No. 24 Cal State Fullerton on Sunday. Taylor Morgan, who leads the Patriots
with six goals on the year, earned CAA Men's Soccer Player of the Week
accolades in addition to being named ECAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the
Week and to the Soccer America Team of the Week. Dustin Butcher and Sean Cote
have split time in the net, combining for a 1.21 goals against average.
For the Monarchs, Yannick Smith leads the team with six
goals on the season, while a trio of players own three assists each. Victor
Francoz has earned the start in net all four matches and boasts a 0.79 goals
against average.
