FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason women's soccer junior Tiana
Kallenberger has been named to the Soccer America Team of the Week after
leading the Patriots to a 3-0 week, including a 3-2 victory over
regionally-ranked Penn.
Kallenberger, a native of Irvine, Calif., helped the
Patriots defeat Saint Francis (Pa.) 3-1, blank Howard 2-0 and edge Penn, 3-2.
She contributed two goals and one assist over the undefeated week.
In handing Penn its first loss of the season, the forward
scored a goal in the 9th minute to put Mason up 2-0 and assisted on
the game-winner in the 47th minute. The junior also scored in a 2-0
triumph over Howard earlier in the week.
On the season, Kallenberger, who earlier this week was named
the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Soccer Player of the Week, leads the
Patriots with a team-high four goals and nine points. The junior has put eight
shots on goal having started all eight matches on the year.
Joining Kallenberger on the team were Melissa Sanger (La
Salle), Natasha Anasi (Duke), Drea Barklage (West Virginia), Chelsea Buckland
(Oregon State), Laura Heyboer (Michigan State) and Morgan Marlorough
(Nebraska).
Mason returns to the pitch opening CAA play at Old
Dominion on Friday, September 23 at 7 p.m. The Patriots will then face William
& Mary on the road Sunday at 3 p.m.
