NEWS & NOTES
It's a full weekend of soccer action as the George Mason
men's and women's soccer teams host doubleheaders on both Friday and Sunday
this weekend at George Mason Stadium. The men's team will be in action Friday
night at 8 p.m. welcoming Central Florida and will face Cal State Fullerton on
Sunday at 4 p.m.
Mason returns home from the Brown Soccer Classic last
weekend and is coming off a 2-2 draw against Holy Cross. Julio Arjona and
Verneri Valimaa both scored for the Patriots.
Central Florida, ranked 8th in the country by
Soccer America and No. 10 in the NSCAA poll this week, enters Friday's match coming
off a 5-2 routing at Mercer. The Knights are led by McKauly Tulloch who has
eight goals on the season.
Cal State Fullerton is receiving votes in the latest NSCAA
poll and cracked the Soccer America Top 25 poll this week, coming in at No. 24.
The Titans last defeated San Francisco on Sunday by a margin of 2-0. With three
goals on the season, Kevin Venegas paces the team's offense.
