One current George Mason player and another future Patriot
each had memorable weeks as Dustin Butcher earned a PDL honor while Verneri
Valimaa competed internationally for the Finland U-18 National Team.
Butcher, a rising senior, was named Honorable mention to the
USL Premier Development League's Team of the Week. Butcher had played all five
of Real Maryland's matches with 540 minutes in goal. He is 4-1 on the year and
all four victories have been shutouts. From the PDL's 64 teams, he is first in
the league in shutouts and second in wins and minutes played.
Valimaa, who will be a freshman this fall, represented
Finland on its U-18 team as the squad played in the Lisbon International
Tournament. The squad played against Portugal, Holland and the USA. In the
opener against Portugal, Verneri was on the pitch for 67 minutes.
