RALEIGH, N.C.
- The George Mason golf team played in better weather conditions today and improved their score by nine strokes over the first round, but finished 12th in the NC State Wolfpack Spring Open. Richmond fired a second-straight 7-over
291 to notch a five-stroke victory at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
Lamar's MJ Daffue
earned individual honors with a five-shot win, finishing the 36-hole
event at 3-under 139 after rounds of 70 and 69, the latter being the low
round of the day and tied for low round of the tournament.
The Patriots were led by freshman Wesley Liu with a two-round 153 and tie for 32nd overall. Senior
Silas VanSky was one stroke back of Liu carding a 77 in each round. Mason's best round of the day was turned in by Alex Kornamac with a four-over par 75.
Mason will compete this coming weekend at the CAA Championship at Pinehurst. The 54-hole tournament will run Friday-Sunday.
