The George Mason men's and women's track and field teams
were in Richmond on Saturday competing at the VCU Ram Invite and while the
event ended early due to lightning and rain, there were still some solid
performances by the Patriots.
On the men's side, Kevin Wilson
won the 400 meters, Andrew
Pitts won the 5000 meters, George Empty
was third in the 400 meter hurdles,
Jacob Morgan was fourth in the 1500 meters and Rachaunn Ruffin
was fifth in the
100 meters.
Wilson won the 400m with a time of 48.36 while Pitts won the
5000 meters in 15:00.58. Empty's time in the 400m hurdles was 55.12, Morgan's
time in the 1500m was 4:06.88 while Ruffin's time in the 100m was 10.52.
On the women's side, Samantha Fickel was fourth in the 1500
meters, Taren Henry and Dominique Graham
tied for fourth in the high jump,
Shantel Miles
was fifth in the 400 meters and Amanda Denger
was fifth in the
100 meter hurdles.
Fickel recorded a 4:46.03 in the 1500m, Henry and Graham
each leapt 1.55 meters in the high jump, Miles had a time of 58.44 in the 400m
and Denger posted a mark of 15.15 in the 100m hurdles.
