George Mason junior Dan Schafferman
had a fabulous weekend at Spuhler Field and for his four-game performance, the right fielder was named Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week.
Schafferman hit .706 on the week going 12 of 17 at the plate with a homer, nine RBI and nine runs scored while going 3 of 3 on the base paths. The Patriots swept Long Island over the weekend and have won six straight games, the longest current streak in the CAA. Schafferman had both RBI in Mason's seven-inning 2-1 win over the Blackbirds on Friday. For the week, Schafferman slugged 1.000 with a .737 on-base percentage.
The Patriots will host Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Spuhler Field. The Mount has yet to play this season while Mason is 6-2.
