George Mason sophomore opposite hitter Mark Jones had a terrific weekend and on Monday, he was honored by the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association as he was named the Tait Division Player of the Week. It is the first such honor for Jones.

Jones opened the weekend with 12 kills and eight digs in a 3-0 win over Saint Francis (Pa.) He followed it up with 24 kills against Juniata while hitting .422 to go with five digs and four blocks. Mason won that match 3-1 to improve to 8-2 on the year, 2-0 in the EIVA.

Jones hit .307 on the week and averaged more than six points per set. For the season, he is averaging 4.64 sets per game while hitting .251. He his averaging two digs per set and nearly a block per set to total 5.34 points per set.

The Patriots will continue their six-match road trip this weekend when they face Springfield on Friday at 7 p.m. and then Sacred Heart on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
