RICHMOND, Va. - For the second consecutive week, George
Mason women's basketball redshirt senior Taleia Moton was tabbed the Colonial Athletic
Association Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week as announced by the league
office on Monday. Moton shared the weekly honor with Delaware's Elena Delle
Donne.
In Mason's 2-0 week, Moton averaged 32.5 points, 6.0
rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.0 assists per game. The Fort Washington, Md., native
poured in 32 and 33 points against UMass and Old Dominion, respectively. She connected on 23-of-38 field goal attempts
(60.5 percent) during the week and posted career highs of 33 points, 12 free
throws and seven rebounds in the win over the Lady Monarchs.
Sunday's win marked the third straight game that Moton
eclipsed the 30-point mark, becoming just the second player in program history
to do so in three straight games. With 30 or more points on Thursday at UMBC,
Moton can become the first player to reach the mark in four straight games,
breaking Cindy Lundberg's record from the 1974-75 season.
Moton and the Patriots, who have won six
straight games, return to non-conference play on Thursday with the road contest
at UMBC. Tip time is set for 7 p.m.
