FAIRFAX, Va. - After completing a successful opening season donning the Green and Gold, men's soccer freshman midfielder Verneri Valimaa was recognized by ESPNHS as one of the High School Soccer Stories of the Year for representing both George Mason and Finland before preseason camp in August.

Valimaa completed his freshman campaign as a Patriot recording two goals and five assists for nine points, tying for fourth on the team. A Rookie of the Week selection for the week of September 5, Valimaa was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team at the conclusion of the season.
