Wrestling will compete in their first match of the season on
Sunday in the Hokie Open in Salem, Virginia. The match will be hosted by Virginia Tech University and
will be a great early test for Mason.
"I am excited for the guys to get in some competition," said
Head Coach Joe Russell. "We need
to see where we are and what we need to concentrate on before on the next few
weeks."
Mason will send 15 wrestlers to the Hokie Open on Sunday; 125 - Vincent Rodriguez and Zachary Isenhour; 141 - Daniel Pak; 149 - Mike Bakuckas; 157 - Jaaziah Bethea, Matthew Huffstickler and DJ Dwyer; 165 - Seth Robertson; 174 - Frankie McLaughlin IV and
Steve Swayze; 184 - Ryan Hembury and Derek Dwyer; 197 - Alexander Stanley 285 -
Hunter Manspile and Adam Barnette.
"The
Hokie Open will help us prepare for our dual meet against opener at Binghamton,"
remarked Russell. "I want the guys
to be excited to get out on the mat and compete against someone new."
The meet
is scheduled to begin in Salem, Va on Sunday at 9am.
