RICHMOND, Va. - George Mason's Taleia Moton was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week by the league office on Monday after averaging 24.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 4.0 assists during Mason's two victories over the past week.

Moton, a 5'6" guard from Fort Washington, Md., scored 16 second-half points at Stony Brook to lead the Patriots to a 54-50 victory after trailing for 37 minutes in the contest. Moton finished with 18 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals to lead the way for Mason.

On Sunday, Moton drained 30 points against UNC Asheville to match her career-high and lead the Patriots to an 88-59 victory over the Bulldogs. Moton was 14-of-17 from the floor and recorded five steals, four rebounds and four assists in 32 minutes of action. It marked the second time this season Moton has scored 30 points with the first setting a career-high at Longwood on November 17.

"Taleia has done a great job and has played consistently well on both ends of the floor for our team in these first five games," commented head coach Jeri Porter. "Her attitude and work ethic have really paid off and this CAA honor is well deserved."

For the season, Moton is averaging 21.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.4 steals per game. Among CAA statistical leaders, Moton currently ranks third in scoring, fifth in minutes played (35.2), sixth in steals (2.4) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9) and eighth in assists (3.8). Nationally, Moton currently ranks 14th in points per game.

The recognition marks the first weekly honor in Moton's two-year playing career in the Green and Gold. Teammate Amber Easter was the last Patriot to receive a CAA weekly award earning Rookie of the Week on November 30, 2009. The last Mason player to be tabbed CAA Player of the Week dates back to Lateisha Wade on November 26, 2007.

Moton shares this week's recognition with Towson's Krystal Parnell. Hofstra's Andreana Thomas was named the Rookie of the Week.

The Patriots, currently 4-1 on the season, return to the court on Thursday welcoming Massachusetts to the Patriot Center for a 7 p.m. tip.
