BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - In
their first dual competition of the season, wrestling fell to conference foe Binghamton University today by a score of
31-11. One of the biggest bright spots
for Mason was the performance of freshman Vincent Rodriguez, who won his bout
in the 125 pound weight class.
"He was down a lot in the match," said Head Coach Joe
Russell. "It was great to see him keep
competing and come back and earn the win."
Redshirt senior co-captain Frankie McLaughlin IV and senior
Mendbagana Tovuujav both won their matches in the 174 and 197 pounds weight
class respectively.
"I think we did a lot of things to improve today," said
Russell. "Thankfully we get to see these
guys again in March and I think we will be a different team by then."
Mason will be back in competition tomorrow in the Binghamton
Open tomorrow at 9am. 16 Mason wrestlers
will compete in the event.
