The George Mason men's soccer team returns to the road for a
matchup at William and Mary Saturday night. In the past six regular season
contests, the Patriots and Tribe stand even at 2-2-2. The conference foes met
twice in 2008 with Mason defeating W&M 5-3 in the CAA Tournament.
Mason is coming off a double-overtime scoreless draw against
Drexel Wednesday night. Taylor Morgan continues to lead the Patriot offense
with a team-high seven goals and 18 points on the season. Goalkeeper Sean Cote
has gotten the start in net the past five contests and has recorded 12 saves
this season with a 0.47 goals against average to lead the league.
In the latest polls, William and Mary is ranked No. 22 in
the NSCAA poll and No. 24 by Top Drawer Soccer. W&M is coming off a 1-0
loss at Georgia State that snapped a four-game winning streak by the Tribe.
Nicolas Abrigo paces the Tribe offense with five goals on the season and 11
points, while goalkeeper Colin Smolinsky has earned the start in net eight
times, recording 34 saves and a 0.89 goals against average. William and Mary sits
second in the CAA standings.
