RICHMOND, Va. - George Mason freshman midfielder Leo Stolz
was named Colonial Athletic Association Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week on
Monday after helping the Patriots to a 1-1 week.
Stolz scored his first career goal at Delaware to tie the
game at 1-all in the 76th minute. The freshman split a pair of Blue
Hen defenders for Mason's lone goal of the contest.
The Munich, Germany native scored the game-winner and
cushioned Mason's advantage on Saturday against Northeastern with two goals on
the night. On his second goal of the season, Stolz scored off a double assist
from Wesley Sever and Draymond Washington as the Patriot buried the deflection
into the back-center of the net. Less than two minutes later, Stolz put Mason
up 3-1 as classmate Timmy Mulgrew sent a low cross pass to the near post and
Stolz tipped it in for his third goal of the season.
Stolz put seven of eight shots attempted in the two matches
on goal and finished the week with six points.
Mason returns to action traveling to Hofstra for a Wednesday,
October 26 matchup at 7 p.m. The Patriots then return home for Senior Day on
Saturday, October 29 welcoming Georgia State for a 3 p.m. contest.
