In this edition of On
the Pitch, a weekly feature that allows fans to get acquainted with one
member of the women's soccer team, GoMason.com spoke with sophomore goalkeeper Lyndse
Hokanson, a native of Crofton, Md. Hokanson
has earned the start nine times this season, appearing 15 times overall and has
46 saves and a 1.15 goals against average.
Q: How did you get
started playing soccer?
A: I started playing at age five in the Crofton Athletic Council Little League where you played with boys and girls.
Q: If you weren't
playing soccer, what would you be doing?
A: I would probably be doing something else sports related, maybe volleyball. I'm too competitive to not play something.
Q: What is your
favorite part of playing soccer?
A: My favorite part is working towards a common goal with teammates that want to
help you and see you succeed.
Q: Why did you choose
to play for George Mason?
A: I chose George Mason because the team and the coaches demonstrated a competitive, yet
nurturing atmosphere that is one I am proud to be a part of and ultimately
carry on.
Q: What is your
favorite food?
A: Steak

interesting about you that people may not know?
A: In 2008 I was in an Under Armour commercial.
Q: What does it mean
to you to be a George Mason Patriot?
A: If you're a Patriot, you're someone who is fully ready
and willing to work ten times harder than everyone else in order to make a name
for yourself and your school since Mason is still a fairly new university
comparatively.
