COACHES VS. CANCER SUITS AND SNEAKERS AWARENESS WEEKEND
Coaches vs. Cancer® Suits and Sneakers awareness weekend, a collaborative initiative of the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), is slated for the weekend of Jan. 28-30, 2011, including the Tribe's Saturday game against George Mason. The Tribe men's basketball staff as well as participating NABC member coaches will wear sneakers instead of dress shoes with their suits during weekend games to demonstrate their support for the American Cancer Society and its vision of a world with less cancer and more birthdays. By lacing up sneakers with their suits on the event's seventh annual awareness weekend, college and high school basketball coaches across the country will spotlight the fact that while cancer remains a major health concern, everyone can take daily steps to reduce their risk of the disease. Basketball fans are also encouraged to wear sneakers to games this weekend to show their support.

The George Mason men's basketball team returns to the road to close out the month of January, traveling to William & Mary for a regionally televised matchup ... William & Mary is 2-8 in conference play this season and 6-15 overall, and the Tribe has dropped its last three contests including a 59-55 decision at home to Delaware on Wednesday night. Quinn McDowell leads the W&M offense as the junior averages 14.5 points per game ... Five CAA teams are ranked in the top 75 of the RPI through games of Jan. 25 according to Collegiate Basketball News (rpiratings.com). Mason is currently 29th breaking the Top 30 for the first time in-season since the Patriots earned a Top 25 ranking in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and were 20th in the RPI on February 20, 2006.
