Notes: The George Mason men's volleyball team looks to
build on its strong start to the season when it takes on New Jersey Institute
of Technology on Friday night. The Patriot beat Toronto, 3-1, to open the
season last Saturday night. Eric Lucas, Robert Stoeckinger and Shaun Sibley
combined for 40 kills while John Jepson and Patrick Maloney combined for 20
digs. Brandon Joyner added 47 assists. The Highlanders, meanwhile, played a
pair of home matches against IPFW, dropping them both 3-0. Kevin Van Oss leads
NJIT with 14 kills. The Highlanders play at Washington Adventist on Thursday
night.

Notes: The Patriots will finish their weekend by hosting
Juniata, which is off to a 3-0 start to the year. The Eagles have matches at
NYU on Thursday and at Eastern Mennonite on Friday. Chris Vrooman is averaging
3.50 kills per set while Alex McColgin is averaging 3.42 kills per set. Mike
Kraft and John Almquit have combined for 124 assists. After winning the
inaugural Division III title in 2009, Juniata spent the entire 2010 season
ranked in the top three in the Division III poll. The first poll of this season
comes out on Thursday night. Last season the Patriots split a pair of matches with the Eagles with each team winning at home.
