The George Mason golf team began their fall season today with two of the three rounds completed at the Maryland Collegiate. The Patriots stand in eighth place out of 15 teams going into the final round at the River Marsh Golf Course at the Hyatt Regency Resort tomorrow morning.
Veteran Josh Apple leads the Patriots after shooting a three-over par 145 for the two rounds. He is tied for 22nd overall on the par-71, 6,801 yard course. Casey Thompson recorded the best 18-hole score for the Patriots with a one-under par 70 and his tied for 38th overall after shooting a 79 in the afternoon.
Mason is competing with fifteen teams at the tournament: Akron, Francis Marion, George Washington, James Madison, Maryland, Navy, UNC-Wilmington, Old Dominion, Penn, Penn State, South Carolina-Aiken, Toledo, William & Mary and Xavier.
