2010-11 Nonconference Schedule

FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason Athletics announced today the Patriots' nonconference women's basketball schedule for the upcoming 2010-11 season. Third-year head coach Jeri Porter will guide the Patriots through a nonconference slate that includes six games in front of the home crowd at the Patriot Center as well as five road contests.

"I am extremely excited about our nonconference schedule for the upcoming season," Porter said. "We believe that this schedule will challenge us a great deal and go a long way toward preparing us for the difficult CAA schedule that begins in January. We are honored to be welcoming several local opponents to the Patriot Center as well as kicking the season off with three straight games on the road. This schedule will certainly serve its intended purpose and give us a definite indication of where we are as a team heading into conference play."

Mason will take on Davis & Elkins College in an exhibition game on Monday, Nov. 8 at the Patriot Center. Following the exhibition contest, the Patriots hit the road for their first three games of the regular season. George Mason will head north to take on UMass on Friday, Nov. 12 and Fairfield on Monday, Nov. 15. The following weekend, the Patriots will travel to Wichita, Kan. to face the Wichita State Shockers.

After returning from Wichita State, Mason will host its first regular-season game at the Patriot Center on Tuesday, Nov. 23 against UMBC. The Patriots will then play Radford, where Porter previously coached, on Friday, Nov. 26 at home.

Following road games against regional rivals American (Dec. 2) and George Washington (Dec. 5), Mason returns home for four consecutive contests to close out the month of December. The Patriots host Stony Brook on Thursday, Dec. 9, Ohio on Sunday, Dec. 12, Longwood on Wednesday, Dec. 22 and Norfolk State on Wednesday, Dec. 29.

With the conference schedule due to be announced in the upcoming months, Mason already knows their opponents and the game sites. The Patriots will play home-and-home series against Delaware, Georgia State, Hofstra, James Madison, Northeastern, UNC Wilmington and Old Dominion. Mason will host CAA foes Drexel and Towson for a single game each at the Patriot Center in 2010-11, with road trips to VCU and William & Mary.
