FAIRFAX, Va. - A pair of incoming freshmen, Wes Sever and Sean Cote, were named to the ESPN Rise All-America Team, becoming the first ESPN All-America honorees to join the Patriots' men's soccer program. Sever was named to the first team, while Cote was a third-team selection.

"We are very pleased for Wes Sever and Sean Cote," said George Mason men's soccer head coach Greg Andrulis. "To be recognized as an All-American is an incredible honor. We are excited to get to work with these two terrific young men and are very pleased for both of them."

Sever, a native of Tampa, Fla., helped lead the Tampa Prep Terrapins to three state championships in four years. During his senior season, Sever scored 32 goals and added nine assists on his way to leading Tampa Prep to a 2-1 win over American Heritage in the state finals. A Tampa Tribune First-Team selection, Sever scored 14 goals in the state playoffs. Sever earned the Florida Dairy Farmers Class 2A Player of the Year Award as well as the Jose Alvarez Award for most outstanding high school soccer player in Hillsborough County.

A third-team selection, Cote was rated by TopDrawerSoccer.com as the fifth best goalkeeper recruit in the country, the top-ranked goalkeeper in Texas and the 55th-ranked recruit in the country. Cote was an adidas ESP selection and member of the Disney/adidas All-Star Team selected to train at Chelsea. A team captain at Plano Senior High School in Plano, Texas, Cote led the Wildcats to the 2009 state championship.

The ESPN Rise All-America teams were compiled using a combination of coaches recommendations, high school performance and recruiting details. ESPN Rise selects a first, second and third team, each consisting of 12 members.
