George Mason lost an EIVA Tait Division men's volleyball match in straight sets to No. 9 Penn State on Saturday evening at Rec Hall in University Park, Pa. Set scores were 30-24, 30-22 and 30-16 in favor of the Nittany Lions.
The loss drops George Mason to 4-10 overall and 2-3 in conference matches. The Patriots have lost four straight matches. Penn State improved to 13-2 overall and a perfect 6-0 against EIVA Tait Division opponents with the win.
Mason was led by sophomore outside hitter Andrew Dentler's 14 kills on 43 swings. Freshman setter Javier Perez dished out 28 assists. Freshman libero Max McFarland recorded a team-high nine digs.
Penn State was paced by Joe Sunder's 14 kills on .542 hitting. Edgardo Goas recorded a match-high 36 assists. Libero Dennis Del Valle led all players with 14 digs.
George Mason returns to action on Friday, March 19 against Ball State. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the RAC.
