The Patriots will look to set a new home attendance record when they host VCU on Pack the House Day Sunday at 1 p.m, in a game that will be televised by Verizon's FiOS1 channel. It is the lone meeting between the Rams and Patriots this season.
Sunday's game will mark Mason's annual Girl Scout Day, and the Mason dance and cheer teams will hold a pre-game clinic prior to the game. Additionally, the Patriots will welcome back their former players as part of Alumnae Day celebrations.
VCU holds third place in the conference standings with a 10-4 mark in CAA play and 17-9 record overall. The Rams' 83-58 win over William & Mary on Thursday night snapped a two-game losing skid. Four VCU players average double-digit scoring, led by D'Andra Moss's 17.7 points per game, which ranks sixth in the CAA. Courtney Hurt is the CAA's fourth-leading rebounder, pulling down eight boards per contest.
Mason holds a slim lead over the Rams in the all-time series record, 26-25, but VCU has won in each of the last four meetings.
When they last met, Brittney Wilkins recorded her first career double-double, but Mason was unable to come back from a late first-half run by VCU as the Rams defeated the Patriots, 67-43, on Jan. 8 last year at the Siegel Center. Wilkins led the Mason offense with 13 points and added 10 rebounds, tying a career high in that category. Joining her in double figures was Brittany Eley who had 11 points. Leading the way for the Rams (11-3, 1-1) was La'Tavia Rorie who scored a game-high 17 points.
Following Sunday's game, the Patriots will remain at home for their Thursday matchup against UNC Wilmington at 7 p.m. That game will be Mason's Senior Night, as the lone senior, guard Rashauna Hobbs, will be recognized prior to the start of the contest against the Seahawks.
