Feb. 17, 2010

The George Mason women's basketball team hits the road for the second-to-last time during the 2009-10 regular season when it travels to Hofstra for a Thursday matinee. Tip time at the Mack Sports Complex is set for 2 p.m. as part of Hofstra's Family Fun Day.

Hofstra is 14-11 overall and 7-6 in conference play, tying them for sixth place in the CAA standings. The Pride dropped a 56-52 decision at Northeastern on Sunday snapping a three-game win streak which began with their 72-39 victory over Mason on Feb. 4 at Patriot Center. Shante Evans continues to lead Hofstra averaging 13.4 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, both team highs.

When the two teams last met earlier this season, a strong start by Hofstra combined with field goal shooting trouble for Mason ultimately led the Pride past the Patriots, 72-39, two weeks ago at Patriot Center. Senior Rashauna Hobbs led Mason for the second straight game as she chipped in 10 points. Leading the way for Hofstra was Nicole Capurso with 20 points, one of three Pride players in double figures.

The Patriots still hold the all-time series advantage, 9-5, with a 60-47 victory the last time Mason played in Hempstead on Feb. 11, 2007.

Up next the Patriots will look to set a new home attendance record when they host VCU on Pack the House Day Sunday at 1 p.m.
