FAIRFAX, Va. - Junior Brittany Poindexter led a trio of George Mason women's basketball players in double-figure scoring with 14 points, but Old Dominion secured a 66-52 Colonial Athletic Association victory on WBCA PinkZone Day Sunday afternoon at Patriot Center.

Mason dropped to 8-16 overall and 1-12 in CAA play while the Lady Monarchs earned the season sweep and improved to 13-10 and 11-2 overall, maintaining their hold on first place in the conference standings.

Along with Poindexter's 14 points, freshman Amber Easter contributed 12 points and junior Ashleigh Braxton added 11, while Poindexter and Braxton each pulled down a team-best six rebounds. Jessica Canady had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lady Monarchs, who held a 39.2-to-31.7 percent field goal shooting advantage as well as a 41-36 lead off the glass.

The Patriots scored the day's opening basket on a jumper by Easter, as the freshman began the game 3-for-3 from the field. It would be Mason's only lead of the game as an 8-2 run by ODU made it a 8-4 contest with 16:21 showing on the clock. Mason pulled within one point on four separate occasions in the first half, including at 18-17 after sophomore Rachel Robinson sank a pair of free throws with just under eight minutes left in the half.

Eventually, Old Dominion would end up closing the half on a 13-3 run to take a 34-22 lead into the locker room. Canady and Easter chipped in nine and eight points, respectively, to pace the scoring.

The Patriots would cut the deficit into single digits, 51-42, on a Rashauna Hobbs 3-pointer with 7:25 to go, and Mason got as close as eight points but ODU was able to hold off the Patriots and pick up the win.

Mason will be back in action on Thursday, hitting the road to take on Hofstra at 2 p.m. in Hempstead, N.Y.
