George Mason redshirt senior Omolyn Davis was a driving force in helping the Patriots return to the CAA Tournament this season, and on Wednesday she became the first Mason player in more than a decade to receive an NSCAA All-American honor as she was selected as a fourth-team All-American.
Davis, a native of Kingston, Jamaica, played two seasons for the Patriots after transferring from NAIA Lindsay Wilson College. She was named first-team All-CAA both seasons and last year she was selected National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Region. This year, she improved on that becoming the first Patriot since Jaime Pagliarulo in 1998 to be honored at the highest level.
Davis was first in the CAA in points per game, second in assists per game and third in goals per game. She finished the year with 29 points on 10 goals and nine assists. Despite just two seasons in the Green and Gold, she finished her career among the top 15 in school history in points, goals and assists. With just three games remaining in the Division I season (national semifinals and championship), Davis is 25th in the nation in points per game and assists per game and 56th in goals per game.
Davis is the 13th Mason player to be named All-American. The previous 12 combined to receive the honor 22 times. She is one of three CAA players to receive All-America honors as CAA Player of the Year Tiffany Yovino of Hofstra and James Madison's Teresa Rynier were both named third-team All-American.
