The Virginia Sports Information Directors released their
All-State women's soccer team on Tuesday and a pair of Mason players were
honored as Omolyn Davis was named first-team All-Virginia while Kelly Thomas
was named second-team All-Virginia.
Davis, who was named fourth-team All-American by the
National Soccer Coaches Association of America earlier this month, was named
All-Virginia last season as well. She also was named NSCAA First-Team
All-Region earlier this month, her second such selection for that honor as
well. Davis was 25th in the nation this year in points per game and
assists per game. She was 56th in goals per game. She led the CAA in
points per game and was second in assists per game and third in goals per game.
She 10 goals, nine assists and 29 points.
Thomas was All-Virginia after being named third-team
All-CAA. She was an anchor on the Mason defense for the second straight season
and she finished the year with a goal and an assist from the back line. Earlier
this month she picked up her first NSCAA honor being named third-team
All-Region in the Mid-Atlantic.
The Patriots were 11-7-2 on the year with a 7-4-0 record in
the CAA, good for third place in the conference. Mason lost in the CAA
Tournament to James Madison, 1-1 on penalty kicks. Davis has exhausted her
eligibility after transferring to Mason from NAIA Lindsay Wilson College. She
finished top 15 in school history in points, goals and assists despite just two
seasons of action. Thomas will return next year for her senior season..
