The George Mason men's soccer team was unable to pick up its first Colonial Athletic Association win of the season on Wednesday evening as the Patriots gave up three unanswered goals in the first eight minutes of the second half and that spurned Drexel on to a 4-1 win over Mason.
Malcom LeBourne scored the game's first goal in the 47th minute, taking a pass from Ken Tribett and knocking the ball in off of keeper Sean Cote. Less than two minutes later, LeBourne took a bass from Nate Baker, dribble twice and put the ball into the left side of the net for a 2-0 lead. Baker got in on the action less than five minutes later as he took a pass from Anthony Bafile and scored from 45 yards out to make it 3-0.
Mason (4-4-1, 0-2-1) got on the board in the 66th minute when Ernesto Marquez scored an unassisted goal from 10 yards out. It stayed 3-1 until the 89th minute when Mark Donohue's shot was stopped but Nathan Page was there to put the rebound in the net.
Mason and Drexel (5-4-1, 1-2-0) were even in corner kicks and the Dragons had a slight edge in shots, 14-10. Drexel had an 8-3 edge in shots on goal while Mason was whistled for 20 fouls to Drexel's seven.
The Patriots return to action on Saturday when they host William & Mary at 7 p.m.
