Head coach Jeri Porter and the George Mason women's basketball team released the Patriots' complete 2010-11 schedule today, with the team set to begin Colonial Athletic Association play in January.
Mason begins conference play on Sunday, Jan. 2 when it hosts Georgia State. A two-game, in-state road trip follows with the Patriots traveling to Old Dominion and VCU on Jan. 6 and 9, respectively. From there, Mason will stay home for a three-game conference homestand, with games against UNC Wilmington (Jan. 13), James Madison (Jan. 16), and Drexel (Jan. 20).
The Patriots will then take to the road for three games in a row, closing out the month of January with contests at William & Mary (Jan. 23), Delaware (Jan. 27) and Northeastern (Jan. 30). To begin February, Mason hosts Old Dominion on Thursday, Feb. 3 and Hofstra the following Sunday, Feb. 6.
A pair of road games at Georgia State (Feb. 10) and James Madison (Feb. 13) are followed by home matchups against Delaware (Feb. 17) and Towson (Feb. 20). For its final road trip of the season, Mason visits Hofstra on Thursday, Feb. 24 and UNCW on Sunday, Feb. 27. The Patriots close out the regular season at home on Wednesday, March 2 against Northeastern.
The 2011 CAA Women's Basketball Championship will be held at a neutral site for the first time, as all 12 teams will take the court at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md., from March 10-13.
With the exception of the Georgia State game, set to be televised live on Comcast SportsNet at 12 p.m., all of the Patriots' home Thursday CAA games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., with Sunday conference tilts set for 2 p.m. at the Patriot Center.
Mason released its non-conference schedule in July, with home games against UMBC (Nov. 23), Radford (Nov. 26), Stony Brook (Dec. 9), Ohio (Dec. 12), Longwood (Dec. 22) and Norfolk State (Dec. 29) scheduled. The Patriots begin the season on the road, traveling to UMass (Nov. 12), Fairfield (Nov. 15) and Wichita State (Nov. 20). Closing out the road non-conference schedule are local matchups at American (Dec. 2) and George Washington (Nov. 5).
