Hempstead, N.Y. - One game after tying his career high Cam Long broke it and the Patriots rode his hot hand and balanced scoring from the rest of the starters to win their second straight road game, beating Hofstra, 90-72 in Colonial Athletic Association action. The Patriots have twice as many road wins in the past five days as they had all season prior to their current winning streak. Overall, Mason has won four straight and the 90 points is a season high.

Long scored 27 to go with four rebounds and a season-high seven assists. Andre Cornelius had 18 points, one shy of his career high, Ryan Pearson had 19 points and nine rebounds, also one shy of his career high, and Mike Morrison had 10 points and six rebounds. Mason (12-7, 7-1) shot 55.6 percent from the field and scored 80 or more for the second straight game and the third time all season. The Patriots are now 3-4 on the road this season.

The win is Mason's fifth straight over Hofstra (9-11, 2-6). The Pride got 26 from Charles Jenkins, the CAA's leading scorer, 20 from Chaz Williams and 14 from Miklos Szabo but they shot just 40.3 percent in the game. They outrebounded Mason 38-32 but they allowed the Patriots to shoot 9 of 16 from 3-point range.

With a 25-24 lead with six minutes to play, the Patriots went on a 13-6 run to close the half and take an eight-point lead into the break. Cornelius and Long each had 3-pointers and Ryan Pearson scored three points from the line as Mason was up 38-30 behind 6 of 10 shooting from behind the arc. Mason opened the second half with a 9-3 run to go ahead 47-33 and the Pride never got closer than eight points the rest of the way. Cornelius, Long, Morrison and Pearson all scored during the opening stretch of the second half.
