Fresh off its first-ever win over the Lady Monarchs last February, the George Mason women's basketball team visits Old Dominion on Thursday night looking to snap a four-game losing skid. Tip off at the Constant Center is set for 7 p.m.
Mason is looking to move back above .500 after the Patriots fell to James Madison on Sunday afternoon in Harrisonburg, 62-50. Mason is 7-7 and looking for both its first Colonial Athletic Association victory as well as its first road win of the year.
ODU enters Thursday's game with a 4-9 record, with two of those wins coming in Colonial Athletic Association play. The Lady Monarchs topped Delaware and, most recently, Drexel, while falling in three overtimes to Northeastern. Shadasia Green leads the ODU offense with 13.1 points per game while Tia Lewis is averaging better than eight rebounds per contest.
When the two teams last faced off, Mason took control early and held off Old Dominion, 63-57, in CAA action, the first time in program history that the Patriots topped the Lady Monarchs. The victory on Feb. 22 last year ended a 44-game skid dating back to the 1974-75 season. Mason (4-22, 2-13) dominated the Lady Monarchs off the glass, holding a 47-to-35 rebounding advantage. The Patriots were led by Brittany Eley, who notched her first career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
