The George Mason women's soccer team played in a tournament for the second straight weekend and for the second straight time, the Patriots came away as tournament champions as they won the Mason Tournament on Sunday. The Patriots downed Cornell, 2-0 to repeat as Mason Tournament champions. Both Mason and William & Mary were 2-0 in the tournament but the Patriots won the title based on goal differential. The Patriots beat Long Island on Friday 1-0 for a +3 goal differential. The Tribe beat Cornell and LIU by identical 1-0 scores for a +2 goal differential.

With 10 minutes to play in the first half, the Patriots-Big Red contest was still scoreless as Mason's Katie Frey and Cornell's Kelly Murphy had each stopped both of the opposition's shots on goal. But in the 36th minute, things changed when Omolyn Davis was fouled about 25 yards out. Kelly Keelan took the ensuing kick and she sent it into the box finding Jessica Pisasale for the second goal of the freshman's career. Six minutes later in the 42nd minute, Mason goalie Katie Frey sent a kick deep over the Cornell defense and Annie Lebherz was the first player to reach it. She got to the ball just ahead of Murphy and was able to touch it just into the left side of the net for a 2-0 halftime lead. Neither team could find the back of the net despite strong opportunities in the second half.

Frey was named tournament MVP after recording back-to-back shutouts. She was joined on the All-Tournament Team by senior Hannah Sklar, redshirt junior Omolyn Davis and freshman Tiana Kallenberger. Joining them on the all-tournament team were Katrina Smedley, Krissy Vornadore and Grace Barnard of William & Mary, Kelly Carter and Brittany Schandelmayer of Long Island and Maneesha Chitanvis and Sidra Bonner of Cornell.

In the day's first game, William & Mary and Long Island battled for more than 81 scoreless minutes before Kellie Jenkins took a pass from Kaitlin O'Connor and fired inside the post past Jennifer Bannon to make it 1-0. The Blackbirds were unable to find the equalizer in the final minutes.

The Patriots will return to action on Tuesday when they host UMBC at 7 p.m. On Thursday, Mason will open the Colonial Athletic Association slate when they host James Madison at 7 p.m.
