Patriot Men's Soccer Players Hone Skills in the Premier Development League During the Summer Months

FAIRFAX, Va. - A total of 10 members of the defending CAA Champion George Mason men's soccer team are spending their summers improving their skills while playing for teams in the United Soccer League's Premier Development League (PDL), the nation's top amateur league. An additional two members of the team are playing in other leagues around the country.

Of the PDL teams, the Northern Virginia Royals boast the most Patriot players, with a total of five on the roster. Included among that group are Sean Kelley, Ernesto Marquez, Eber Martinez, Alex Procter and Steven Wagoner.

Kelley has played seven matches in goal for a total of 650 minutes. Kelley, named to the PDL Team of the Week on May 13, has recorded 48 saves and two shutouts this season. In eight matches, Marquez has totaled two goals and two assists for six points. Eber Martinez has played in six matches, Procter five and Wagoner eight. The Royals have four more matches remaining on their schedule during the month of July.

The Chicago Fire also has multiple Mason men's soccer players on its roster. The three Patriots on the team's roster this summer are Richard Edgar, Victor Freeman and Ryan Gracia. In six matches, Freeman has two goals for a total of four points. Gracia has a goal and an assist for three points in five matches played. The Fire are tied for third in the Great Lakes Division of the Central Conference with five matches remaining on its schedule during the month of July.

Anthony Han has appeared in nine matches for the Virginia Legacy, while Mike Foss has appeared in 10 matches for the Ogden Outlaws, with one goal scored. The Legacy has three matches remaining on its schedule, while the Outlaws conclude their 2009 schedule with six matches during the month of July.

A pair of Patriots are playing for teams not affiliated with the PDL. Eric Zuehsow is playing for the D.C. United Super-20 Academy Team, which has three matches remaining on its 2009 Super-Y League schedule. Parker Walton has one goal this season for the Madison 56ers of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).
