The George Mason men's volleyball team wraps up its 2009 regular-season schedule with a pair of EIVA Tait Division matches this weekend at the Field House. The outcome of the two matches will determine the Patriots' seeding in the upcoming EIVA Championship Tournament.
On Friday evening, Mason will host the Princeton Tigers in a 7 p.m. match. The next day will be Senior Day at the Field House with the Patriots taking on NJIT in a 4 p.m. match.
With an 11-14 overall record and 4-6 mark in conference play, George Mason enters this weekend's action in fifth place in the conference standings. If Mason wins both of its matches to close the regular season, it will jump to fourth place in the standings and will host an EIVA Championship Quarterfinal match on Saturday, April 25. If the Patriots lose a match this weekend, they will host an EIVA Championship First Round match on Wednesday, April 22.
Mason's opponents this weekend have a combined record of 12-33 overall and 3-19 in conference matches. Princeton is currently in sixth place in the EIVA Tait Division standings with a 9-11 overall record and 3-8 mark in conference matches. NJIT is in last place with a 3-22 overall record. The Highlanders are winless in conference play with an 0-11 record.
Individual tickets to men's volleyball matches at George Mason University cost $5 for adults and $2 for youth and senior citizens. All full-time enrolled students at George Mason University will be admitted free with a valid Mason student ID.
Friday's match will be Mason Spirit Day. All fans wearing green and gold to the game will get into the match for just $1. On Saturday, fans will be able to get into the match for $2 by bringing their ticket stub from either the Penn State or Princeton home matches and presenting them at the ticket table. Saturday's match will feature lucky number prizes and giveaways with one lucky fan receiving an iPod Shuffle.
Senior Day will take place on Saturday. Three Mason seniors - Kyle Gramit, Erik Lanham and Brandon McLaughlin - will be honored in a ceremony prior to the start of the match.
