UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The George Mason men's volleyball team faced its toughest test of the 2009 season on Friday evening, a road match against No. 4 Penn State at Rec Hall in University Park, Pa. The Patriots were unable to pull off the upset of the Nittany Lions, falling by a final score of 3-0.

Final set scores were 18-30, 25-30 and 18-30. Mason's record drops to 7-5 overall and 2-3 in EIVA Tait Division matches, while Penn State improves to 15-1 overall and a perfect 7-0 in conference matches.

Penn State used a balanced attack to defeat George Mason as three Nittany Lions finished with double-digit kill totals - Joe Sunder (13), Will Price (12) and Max Holt (11). The Nittany Lions outhit the Patriots .398-.054.

Senior Kyle Gramit was once again the top offensive threat for Mason with a total of 12 kills in the match. Sophomore libero Eric Lucas recorded 11 digs to lead all players.

George Mason will look to rebound tomorrow evening on the road against another EIVA Tait Division foe, the Princeton Tigers. First serve is set for 4 p.m. in Princeton, N.J.
