Women's Top Performances
BOSTON - After wrapping up its 2009 regular-season meet schedule with the highly-competitive Mason Last Chance meet on March 1 at the Field House, the Patriot track and field program travels to Boston, Mass. this weekend to take part in the ECAC/IC4A Championships. The women's team will compete in the ECAC Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center while the men's team will compete in the IC4A Championships at the Boston University Track and Field Pavilion.
The men's team qualified for the championship meet in 13 different events, including the 55-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 500-meter dash, 800-meter run, 1000-meter run, mile run, 3000-meter run, long jump, triple jump, 4x400-meter relay, 4x800-meter relay and the distance medley relay. The following is a list of the athletes and events that the Patriots will compete in at the meet:
Rachaunn Ruffin - 55-meter dash
Ja-Vell Bullard - 400-meter dash
Kevin Wilson - 500-meter dash
Michael Pachella - 800-meter run
Sam Horn - 1000-meter run
Anthony LaMastro - Mile
Everett Hackett - 3000-meter run
Dwight Webley - Long Jump and Triple Jump
LaVell Handy - Triple Jump
TBA - 4x400-meter relay
Parker Boudreau, Tom Troxell, Tyler Golden and Ryan Murphy - Distance Medley Relay
The IC4A Championships will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday and continue on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. The final event will be the finals of the 4x400-meter relay on Sunday at 2:45 p.m. At the conclusion of the meet, there will be an awards ceremony.
On the women's side, the Patriots qualified for the ECAC Championships in six different events, including the 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles, long jump, triple jump and 4x400-meter relay. The following is a list of athletes and events that the Patriots will compete in at the meet:
Tiara Swindell - 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash
Sable Otey - 60-meter hurdles
Ryann Hendricks - long jump, triple jump
Chia Hudson - long jump, triple jump
Grace Mavugara - long jump, triple jump
TBA - 4x400-meter relay
The ECAC Championships are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The meet will continue on Sunday at 1 p.m. with the final event, the finals of the 4x800-meter relay, scheduled to begin at 3:20 p.m. An awards ceremony will follow the conclusion of the meet.
Following this weekend's ECAC/IC4A Championship meets, the 2009 indoor track and field season will come to a conclusion with the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships slated for March 13-14 in College Station, Texas. Both Dwight Webley and Ryann Hendricks have reached the provisional qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships. Webley is on the list for the long jump, while Hendricks topped the standard in the triple jump.
