The George Mason men's volleyball team dropped its second consecutive match to a ranked opponent on Friday evening when it fell 3-0 to No. 15 Loyola-Chicago at Alumni Gym in Chicago, Ill. Sophomore Eric Lucas led all players with 10 digs in the match.
Final set scores were 30-27, 30-27 and 30-28 in favor of the Ramblers. Mason's record drops to 9-11 on the season. Loyola-Chicago improves to 11-8 with the straight-set victory.
Senior Kyle Gramit led the Patriots again with 15 kills on 33 swings for a .303 hitting percentage. Gramit also recorded seven digs in the match. Luke Maloney served three aces for Mason, in addition to his nine kills.
Krisjanis Berzins helped lead the Ramblers to the win with 16 kills. Mike Bunting chipped in 15 for Loyola-Chicago.
Mason wraps up its three-match Midwest road trip when it takes on IPFW on Saturday in Fort Wayne, Ind. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
