The Colonial Athletic Association recognized its ninth class of basketball legends at the CAA Women's Tournament in Harrisonburg, Va. on Wednesday night at the annual banquet. George Mason standout from the mid-1990s Krista Jay represented the Patriots as this year's legend. Jay currently works as an assistant coach for the Oakton Cougars girls' varsity team playing in the Virginia AAA Girls Championship tonight in Richmond. She was able to accept the honor in person after the Cougars won their semi-final game against Lake Taylor earlier in the day on Wednesday.

A four-year starter for the Patriots, Jay is imprinted in the Mason history books in many categories. The 5' 10" guard finished her career with 1,400 points, good for seventh all-time. One of the deepest shooters in Mason history, Jay ended her career third in 3-point field goals made with 146. She also finished her career with 144 steals, tied for 13th all-time, 156 assists, good for 20th all-time and 24th in rebounding with 415.

In her four seasons as a Patriot, Mason finished .500 or better each year in CAA play. In her junior and senior seasons, Jay led the team in scoring averaging 15.0 and 15.8 points per game respectively earning 2nd team All-CAA honors each season. Jay earned All-rookie honors from the CAA as a freshman.

The Artemas, Pa. native is a 1998 graduate of George Mason with a Bachelor's of Science in Physical Education. She currently resides in Fairfax, Virginia and is employed by Fairfax County Public Schools where she's an assistant athletic director, teaches physical education and coaches girls' varsity basketball.
