The George Mason men's basketball team will look to pick up its first road win of the season on Saturday afternoon as the Patriots travel to New Orleans to take on Tulane in a contest with a 2 p.m. EST tip. The game will be broadcast on WWRC 1260 AM.
This is the first road game of the season for Mason (3-2), which is 2-0 at home and 1-2 in neutral site games. Tulane (1-3) has played at home just once this season, losing to Georgetown on Nov. 13. They have gone 1-2 in neutral site games since then as well, losing to Miami and LaSalle while beating Penn State.
Tulane has three players scoring double figures led by Kris Richard's 14.8 points per game. David Booker is scoring 10.0 points with a team-high 5.8 rebounds per game. Aaron Holmes is scoring 10.0 points and he is 14 of 20 from the free throw line to lead the team at the charity stripe.
As a group, Tulane is shooting 39.2 percent from the field while scoring 58.5 points per game and grabbing less than 28 rebounds per contest. The opposition is shooting 45 percent from the field against them while averaging 67.2 points per game and grabbing 38 rebounds per contest.
Mason also has three players scoring in double figures led by Cam Long's 10.8 points. The junior also leads the team with seven steals and is second on the squad with 12 assists. Ryan Pearson is averaging 10.4 points and 6.0 rebounds while Andre Cornelius is averaging 10.0 points while shooting 78.6 percent from the free throw line and 45 percent from 3-point range. Luke Hancock, twice named CAA Rookie of the Week, is averaging 9.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists while Mike Morrison is averaging 9.6 points, a team-high 8.0 rebounds and 2.4 blocks.
As a team, the Patriots are shooting just 40.8 percent from the field but they are holding the opposition to 39 percent shooting. Mason has outscored the opposition 67-64 but the Patriots have been outrebounded this year by 2.6 boards per game.
