The George Mason women's volleyball team has already locked up a berth in next week's Colonial Athletic Association Championship, and it will look to solidfy the number-three seed when it hosts James Madison in its regular-season finale on Saturday night. First serve on Senior Night is set for 7 p.m. at the RAC Gym.
Mason clinched a berth into the four-team field last week when it when 1-1, and comes into the matchup with rival JMU with a 20-8 record, 9-4 in conference play. The Patriots hold a half-game lead over William & Mary and a 1.5 game lead over Northeastern. Delaware and VCU head into the weekend tied for first place.
Holly Goode leads the Mason offense, which ranks first in the CAA in hitting percentage, as she is averaging 3.20 kills per set, good for a team-best 294 total. Kelsey Bohman is 15th in the country as she anchors a conference-best blocking unit with 1.38 blocks per set (145 total.)
JMU is 11-18 with a 4-9 CAA record. Danielle Erb leads the offense with 309 kills (3.09 kps), while Natalie Abel leads with 290 digs. The Dukes dropped a pair of matches last weekend to VCU and William & Mary, and Mason was victorious in the teams' matchup earlier this season in Harrisonburg.
Saturday's match is the final home match for the three members of Mason's senior class: Sam Simmonds, Laura Turner and Rebecca Walter. The trio will be honored prior to the start of the match.
