Oct. 20, 2009

Fairfax, Va.- (October 20, 2009) --- George Mason men's basketball games will be broadcast on television at least 19 times during the 2009-2010 season, bringing the total number of televised games since the 2006 Final Four to 99 games, with potential to break the 100 mark. The Patriots composite television schedule includes games on the multi-platform ESPN package, the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN), selected games as part of the Colonial Athletic Association's (CAA) Comcast/TCN package and Verizon FiOS1.

The Mid-Atlantic Sports Network will partner with Mason for the fourth straight season. The Patriots game against George Washington at the Smith Center in Washington, DC on December 2 will be the first of six games MASN will broadcast. Fans will be able to watch three more of the Patriots away contests as the regional sports network package includes games at Radford and at CAA opponents Towson and UNC Wilmington. MASN will also air the home contest against William and Mary.

Verizon FiOS, a Mason partner for the fourth straight season, will broadcast the CAA contest against Hofstra on January 4, 2010 on their FiOS1 channel. Three Patriots women's basketball games will also be aired on the FiOS1 channel this season.

The Green and Gold have five CAA games slated for broadcast on Comcast SportsNet or The Comcast Network (TCN). Both home and away contests with CAA rivals James Madison and Old Dominion will be scheduled on Comcast SportsNet. TCN will air the CAA game at Northeastern on January 7.

The Patriots are scheduled to appear on the ESPN platform five times, including all three games at the 3rd Annual O'Reilly Auto Parts Puerto Rico Tip-Off this November. The other two games are against CAA opponents Hofstra (1/19) and Virginia Commonwealth (2/9). Mason has the potential to appear on the ESPN platform two more times during the regular season, as the final game of the season against Northeastern at the Patriot Center will either be on ESPN2 or CSN, and as part of ESPN Bracketbuster weekend on February 20.

The season following the 2006 Final Four, Mason had 21 regular season games on television and were on three times in the CAA Championship for a combined 24 total games on television. A record 27 regular season games were televised in 2007-08 and an additional four in the postseason for a total of 31 appearances. Last year the total was 25 games televised bringing the three year total to 80 games.
